Periodic Inspection & Testing:
This service is ideal for landlords and employers who have the legal obligation to comply with the electricity at work act 1989. Failure to ensure that your electrical installation is safe and fit for purpose can result in a fine or imprisonment. The purpose of a Periodic Inspection and Test Report is to ensure that your installation is safe, that you are complying with legal requirements and to give you documentation which is acceptable in a court of law as proof that you have fulfilled your obligation.
It is also a good idea for private householders to have their electrical installation inspected when moving into a property, and then at least once every ten years to check for compliance with the current edition of the wiring regulations and detect any signs of deterioration before they result in a problem.
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT):
If you provide electrical equipment for use by your tenants, staff or customers, you have an obligation to ensure that these appliances are in good order. PAT helps to ensure your compliance with this requirement, and provides you with proof that you have exercised your duty of care.
The frequency of testing is determined by the type of appliance, it's nature of use and location.
